Well, it's another fine day in the online game of Second Life. I am enjoying it even more now. I couldn't believe my sorors are in the game. They are a true joy. As we continue to celebrate over 100 years of service and sisterhood, I am proud to be an AKA Lady. I know I will enjoy getting to know all my sorors. Playing Around

What fun I had today! I love to visit with Sue. If I could only play like that in real life. Well, we are all given talents. Sue has not only been blessed with musical talents but also the gift of treating people like they matter. Not everyone does that.

Anyway, I hope you visit her sim and that you too feel the warmth of her kindness.

I gotta get back to my piano playing now. I love to get swept away in the music. Hope you will too.

I Love My Friends!

What I love most about the online game of second life, aside from the freedom to create, are my friends. I love my friends! I love sharing stories and spending time with you. I have met so many people that are kind and a pleasure to talk to.
It is still raining and I am still enjoying it. Rain is symbolic of many things but today rains means "new life" will begin soon. Spring will be here soon and the new and freshness of all that season brings, will be embraced.

I love that you can visit a variety of sims that are seasonal. Today I went to all four seasons. That was great! Ahhhh, I just love life! Please go out there and....

Rainy Day Feeling

Today is a rainy day. Unlike some, I really enjoy rainy days. I enjoy them most when I am with the one I love. It's a great time snuggle up and... go to sleep. Anyway, that's what I will do now. In a Blink

It's amazing what can occur in a blink. I'm talking in a part of a second, things can happen. The good news is, good things can happen in a blink just as bad things can happen.

I have always thought that life is about change and how we deal with the change will determine the quality of our life.

In the online game of Second Life, we get to manipulate.That is difference between real life and second life. It's very similar to theatre in that way too. On stage every night, I can get shot, die and come back to life. Can't do that in real life. Hence there is a huge danger for those who can't tell the difference between rl and sl.

Natalie Cole

I took a break from the online game Second Life and saw Natalie Cole perform. Overall it was a lovely evening. The songs were familar and made me remember special times in my life. Funny how a song can trigger memories like that.

My favorite song of the evening was when there was a duel between Natalie and the horn player. It was incredible! She won. I couldn't tell you the name of that song because it became its own creation by the end. I call it, Incredible.

My other favorite song was Unforgettable. Watching her watch the screen with her father was touching and something I will remember.

The performance was a wonderful testament to her inner strength. I hope we all left with a little more inspiration than we came in with.

Take Me To The Water

Just Thinking

Well, it's another Friday! Just a few more of these and spring will be here. I LOVE the word FRIDAY!

Today I had the great opportunity to sit and think. There is so much around us to think about. At the root of all that is creative, is a simple thought. This can often lead to a question and then into a process that is different for every artist. I appreciate and respect that process. The outcome is more times than not, some work of greatness. If you enjoy or understand the art produced, is totally up to you. What makes me more than just a little upset, is when others don't respect any part of the artists process and take what is not theirs. There are those who feel it is simply alright to claim anothers work as their own.

I could really go on for days about how this is not right but somewhere in all of us, we know what is not right and what is wrong. The simple truth, unfortunately, is that even those who know it's wrong to take things that others work hard for, still feel the world owes them something. I will never agree to that line of thinking. I simply live my life trying to be responsible and pray that one day the others will stop their evil ways.

We can't let those unfortunate souls keep us from doing great things. To all the artists who do wonderful work only to have others steal it, know that their sunshine will not last long. Continue to do what you do and don't let them stop you, otherwise, they win.

I Give Leave

Interesting, the things that make me contemplate. Sometimes I think, I think too much. The danger there is actually finding answers you don't want to. I find, when people are permitted to think out loud they have extraordinary things to say. Recently, I had the opportunity to hear the thoughts of young adults. They were permitted to express themselves in the form of a poetry slam. I was never so amazed but not at what you might think. The standard phrase I heard over and over again throughout the audience was, "When we were that age, we did not have thoughts like that".

I'm not sure if we never had the same thoughts but rather, I think we didn't have opportunities to express them. What the young people were expressing were what many young people think and feel at that age. I do agree however, some of the talent was incredibly strong. I find, however, when you raise the bar, people tend to meet or exceed it.

In My Thoughts

I don't know what the weather is where you are but outside of my house it is absolutely beautiful. There has not been such a lovely day that I have noticed in sometime. I want to run out and soak in the beautiful rays on such a day.

In Second Life the days are always beautiful, unless you desire something else. I once saw an avatar followed by a storm cloud. How odd, I thought to myself, that someone would want a storm cloud to follow them. In any case I am all for, do what makes you happy. If storm clouds make you happy then by all means create one because you can do that in second life.

I went to an art gallery today. I have been wanting to go to art museums in second life and just never made it as of yet. I was doing a search for something and this art place came up. I actually zipped over last night but it took so long to rezz that I just waited until today to visit.

What a lovely place it is. Not only do they have wonderful modern art pieces, they also sell bean bags. I hadn't seen those in years! I enjoyed looking at the modern art and the Asian inspired pieces of art too. I stayed for a long time and just pondered. It was positive pondering for me today.

Peace

Yesterday was a terrific day. I was able to write and continue my line of short stories. It's been a slow process at times but I appreciate not being under the pressure to spit out a story under some timeline. I write a little and sleep a little. It's the best combination for my weekends.

During my time in Second Life yesterday I came upon the avatar you see above. Striking was all I could think. There have been many avatars that I thought were striking. From the skin and shape of an avatar to the clothing the avatar chooses for themselves. I thought he was well put together. I asked if I could take a picture because I wanted to put the picture on my blog so you can see what I saw. When it was time to part ways, I said, "Peace". He replied, "Peace my sister".

That's what we all need..... Peace.

Draw!

Well, real life responsibilities kept me from doing my blog thing. Real life and laziness too. I've been feeling rather sluggish. I don't need an excuse to be lazy, it's one of my unique qualities that I admit to. Even though I love blogging, I enjoy thinking about what to say and share too.

Recently, I've been doing a great deal of sketching. They are not good but I suppose everybody had to start somewhere. Next, I began to use color pencils and things began to look up. They still are not the best but I really enjoyed creating them.

My many trips to other blogs have really validated me. I feel like it's alright to be creative at any age. That fact is what I probably appreciate about second life. The people in second life are grown ups and they still love to create as I do. Creating and finding joy in creating new things is not just for any particular age group.

I'll admit to feeling guilty for wanting to create. I felt like I am suppose to be a grown up now and that part of my life is suppose to be over. I don't know where that rule came from, as no one actually told me, but rather it was a feeling that I either created or was implied in some way.

Anyway, most days I feel good about the possibilities. What will I do? What will I create? I can't tell you how good that feels to be able to have that opportunity. I hope others never take that for granted but rather celebrate it all of their days.

Days End

Guess what I did today? If you guessed "create" then you guessed correctly. An opportunity came to me today to create. This time in the area of animations. I am not very good but I figure the way to get better at anything is to keep working at it. So, that is what I did today. The animations I am creating have me working in my second favorite place in the house... the kitchen.

Since I was a little girl pretty dishes excited me. I love to see an elegant table setting. They are so inviting. I have never given big formal parties but I have been to my share of them and the table setting was the best part of the evening for me.

One of my favorite television stations is the food network. There are several shows that trip my trigger but what really excites me are the pots and gadgets they use. I am in love with most of the kitchen sets and dream of having a kitchen like theirs.

In the online game Second Life, I can have that dream kitchen. The animations I am working on revolve around working in the kitchen. It's all exciting to me because at the end of the day, I get my dream kitchen and play in it too.

Fog Blog

Well, this was a creative day. I spent the day taking pictures and reading. In between all of that hard work I took naps. Who invented weekends? I love you and I love weekends!

Reading other blogs was very informative and it gave me new creative inspiration. I think some are born more creative than others. I am just amazed by what people create. Now, I don't say I understand everything they create and really, I don't think I'm suppose to. I just take what I can from it and move on. That seems to work best for me.

I talked for a long time to a newbie in the online game Second Life. It was wonderful to hear thoughts from someone in the position I was in not that long ago. I was actually amazed that someone that new was that advanced. It took me along time to learn how to do things that avatar was doing. I have noticed many newbies love wings. They do look like fun!

This Week ends...

What a week this has been. What a great mood I'm in. And nothing compares to love. I believe we all witnessed a miracle! An airplane going down and people are living. How absolutely WONDERFUL!!!

Today I wanted to write. I was in a great mood to do it too and all I could think about was the miracle. It just restores so much in me. No, I still don't like to fly! When I saw everything that happened I just sobbed for hours thinking about what could have happened.

When I have gotten on a flight and they made those safety announcements, I'll admit to sometimes feeling like emergency procedures are something you do before you die from the crash but this situation proved me wrong. Someone said it was a textbook definition of "emergency exit".

The pictures told the fearless story of what people will do for others when they are in trouble and need help. People rallied and in a relatively short period of time everyone was safe and warm. Many blessing to those who care about others unconditionally.

I continue to write my short stories in, The Adventures of Viv Writer, and I have to admit the love I feel for the ones I don't even know have fueled my engines.

What's In The Box?

What a lovely day I had today. Despite whatever is happening in real life, I can come spend time in second life, create, and suddenly life is just a little sweeter.

I am grateful for my friends in second life. Thank you for kind words, you'll never know what they mean.

Well, I visited with a friend and we had a good chat. Afterwards, I had this idea to create boxes. Not an original one to be sure but I just felt like it and so I DID IT! I am not a designer by any standards but I love getting fancy boxes in real life. I usually don't care for what's in them as people really have no clue what to get me. I have always enjoyed the beauty of a well crafted box. They are also great to store things in too. As I am just now putting Christmas decorations away, I appreciate them now more than before.

Above, you will take note of my black and white box with a bow. Actually you can't see the white part but the bow comes from a second life dress. I thought that was a clever way to use the bow. Anyway... I had a great time making boxes today. I made square ones and round ones. It's all good.

I took pictures and filmed today as well. I need to get my staged pictures organized a bit better next time as it is very confusing and frustrating when I don't work with a proper storyboard.

I made a cell phone! Okay, it's not a great looking cell phone but it worked with my phone animation. I was pretty happy with it and it all worked with my filming so how bad is that?

I spent some quality time at the beach. Oh my, the sound of the ocean can always clear my head. Well, long enough for me to fall asleep. The sound of the ocean has a lulling affect on me, just as the sound of some voices.

To end the day I will listen to some scary stories and call it a very good weekend. Just think, there is still more second life left for next time.

Maybe

I can't tell you the joy I had today. I spent much of the day pondering about different projects I want to do. I had the opportunity to visit a cute little house on a mountain top. It was amazing to me because it was really built on top of a mountain. I sat there, had some coffee, and thought about how wonderful most people are. Someone created such a wonderful piece of art work and they allow all residents to enjoy it. What a wonderful show of citizenship.

Later I was so inspired by the 1945 movie, Enchanted Cottage, that I spent time at a favorite cottage and took pictures. I love that movie and get so emotional everytime I watch it.

There is such wonderful composition in second life. What a wonderful backdrop for soooo much. Ideas just run about in my head. I enjoy entertaining them. Will I ever create all the ideas I have? Well, maybe.

Give Me The Simple Life

I had such a good time today. Life can be very simple in second life and I appreciate that. I spent my time talking to interesting avatars simply having fun dressing or playing dress up in different outfits. It was very funny too. I never fail to be surprised at what is available in second life.

I spent a great deal of time listening to theatre of the mind. They were playing episodes of Twilight Zone. That show still scares me. Even over the radio...

Next I went to one of my favorite sims and did some picture taking and film making. What a simple and uncomplicated life. You gotta love it.

Relaxing

Well, today was another good day. I didn't go to many classes today. I only attended one and didn't stay for the entire class. I wasn't really interested in creating scripts.

I took more pictures and did some filming. I created some textures for props. I hope to use these props in my short stories.

I worked on some sketches today as well. I think I want to create a sketchbook for second life. I have ideas like that all the time but rarely do they pan out.

Anyway, I am very grateful to have the opportunity to create freely. It is a wonderful feeling to be this free. I use to feel, if only I was able to do this or that. Now I can't say that. In second life I can make so much possible. I am limited only by my lack of skills but I think if I stick to it, and keep trying..... I might just get it.

Ta Dah!

Well, today was a wonderful day. I had a bit of a lie in. I skipped a few classes this morning. When I finally surfaced I went back to the flexie skirt class. That was really interesting, to say the least.
To begin with, it started off normally. We had to register for the class because the sim couldn't handle too many of us working at the same time. According to them, the sim would crash if more than 20 worked. There were not that many of us. In fact, I believe it was just 16.
There was this really sick avatar there. He kept doing rude things. The instructor must not have been paying attention or maybe she didn't care. It got to the point where she finally said, "Sit down and behave". He then said some rude stuff to her and she threatened to ban him and reminded him that if he were to be banned it would ban him form loads of places. He got the message and left. Several of us seemed to be happy about that.
I followed much of the class but if I were to be honest with myself, much of it I didn't get. I mean, I just didn't get it. I felt like I should not even try anymore. Good thing there are loads of other things to do in Second Life.
I went back to my home sim and hung out for a little while. Real life demanded my attention so I had to leave for a portion of the evening.
Once I returned I returned to the theatre of the mind. It was very good tonight. I do enjoy hearing a good story.

Next....

Today in Second Life was a blast! I am doing so much. First, I began the day with a class in sculpty painting.

While I enjoyed the class because it was very informative, I think the class was very misleading. I mean, the name of the class is Sculpty Painting. We never did any painting. When I mentioned it, the teacher told me, "That's tommorow's class". She continued to explain. "Today we are just sculpting". I got satisfied with that explanation and moved on. I didn't have a choice, did I?

Next, I played with Gimp. With the Gimp software, which is free by the way, I began to make clothes. I made a pair of pajamas earlier this week but the seams gave me trouble. I even had another avatar try them on, thank you friend, and still the seams were showing. I am proud to say that I played with the software enough that I fixed the problem. I must say the whole thing is time consuming and at times frustrating.

I went to another class. The class was suppose to teach you how to make prim skits. I had a hard time there largely because things didn't rezz fast enough. I kept getting in everyones way. One avatar, I could not even see, said to move. I thought that was funny but I moved. Finally things rezzed and I saw a place to sit but of course by then the class was well into the project and I was too far behind to even think about participating.

Back I went to my home sim. Well, it's not actually my sim but I am allowed to be there and I love to be there. It does feel like home.

Dreaming of my next project, I thought I might go and listen to a scary story before bedtime. There is a Stephen King story being performed in seven episodes. I really enjoy the theatre of the mind. Things got scary real quick to. Mr. King is a great writer but maybe a bit too much for me.

Well, that was my adventure for today. I talked with a few avatars and all were very nice. It is rare for me to meet a mean avatar.

Today was a good day.
