The most wonderful time of year…..Really!

Ahhh Christmas. I love this time of year in real life and in the online game of second life. My dear friend Julia Hathor has her holiday items out on her sim and they are as fabulous as always.
I can't tell you how much I think of her work. Simply stated, she is awesome!
I love second life for a variety of reasons but mostly because of the friends and camaraderie.
I love how second life informs and adds positive energy to my real life.
People come and go, that's life I suspect, but I love the continuity of this online game.
To my friends, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Year.
By all mean please…..

Carpenters - Don't Be Afraid

I absolutely love the message in this song. If I weren't a 60's baby, I would have spent my life wanting to be a 60's baby. I love this period in history and I especially love the music that was made during this time.
You simply have to love it! It always helps me.....

Tea Time

Well, I am back in the real world and it's as crazy as when I left for a vacation. You really have to make an effort to look for the good in others because there are those who apparently just don't care.
Picture this. I am going to the grocery store early in the morning to beat the traffic. As I am walking to the front door, a man comes running out. I think to myself, "It's too early for anyone to be late for work". Then I thought, "Looks like someone is running away from a crime of some sort".
It turns out the latter was true. A man had stolen a large quantity of expensive meat. It also turns out that this man had done this before, in this same grocery store.
I must say I was naive enough to think that maybe he was really hungry and he resorted to such dishonest measures. Nope. This man, took the most expensive cuts of meat to sell to others for money.
Anyway, on to other news. I had a great time creating cards and gifts for the people I care about. I am also having fun designing my work space. I want to add a keurig beverage machine so I have been doing a great deal of research. It looks like I will get the K60 Special Edition. I don't drink coffee so this machine will be used for tea and hot chocolate. I can't wait to get started.
Tea has one big effect on me. It calms me down.  I don't have a favorite yet but I will try several and see. Tea, it helps me.....

Those who really care

This has been one of the most interesting summers I have ever had. It was filled with so many adventures. I have enjoyed my time off and feel extremely blessed.
Presently, I must prepare myself to return to the real world. It is a bit depressing but I am very grateful to have had the opportunities I have had this summer. I have felt the prayers of so many and I am thankful to have people who really care in my life. I have been working on presents for them and I hope to share pictures in another post.
In the online game of Second Life, I have had the most creative time. For those who have not been introduced to this world, again I encourage you to try it. It is a game first but for me it has proven to be creative ground. It does not matter where I land, there are friends to be made and friendships that are maintained.
In real life many of you know I love the beach and currently the endangered newly born baby turtles are making their way to the ocean. It warms my heart to see those who care, make sure this process is not disturbed. I call them the good shepherds. I do hope all goes well. It's good to know there are people who honestly care out there doing great things. In the end, it helps us all......

I know Father's Day has passed for this year but I thought I would share what I created for my Dad.
I hope you like it and.....

Enjoy Life!!
This song is the perfect anthem for me. I have always lived by the words in this song. Fortunately, I grew up feeling like I was allowed to be me.
This song is song by someone young and you can tell simply by the way she is singing the song that she gets it. How very important I say.
As I have traveled this wonderful world I do realize how very BLESSED I have been in being allowed ot be me. I have met many who have yet to discover who they are and what they believe in.
Many know my motto. It is, "I am going to let you be you and you are going to let me be me". I love it! Being me allows me to.....;.

You Know I Can Do This

I have a great idea for my next school year. I am so excited about this vision! I blame it all on the online game of Second Life. There, I have been allowed to create and dream. Two ingredients I needed to tap into to make this happen.
Some would say the next part, the execution, is the hard part. I would disagree. I have students who want to be taught and want to learn. I am the armed with what it takes to get that job done effectively.
The hard part was creating. Once my mind was allowed to run free and dream, it was like rounding third base. This is the part when I say, dreams can come true. Just watch me take it home.  Tune in and you will.....

About My Second Life

Well, I am having a lovely Second Life and I have been for a while now.
The online virtual game of Second Life does a wonderful job of entertaining me. This online game provides a solitude that quiets my spirit after a stressful or busy day.
I hang out in a place where I don't see others and that creates a perfect place of peace.
Clear thinking and creativity go hand in hand in my worlds (rl and sl). I have been able to design and create so many lovely ideas but it really doesn't stop there.
The virtual water nearby and the beautiful horizon does wonders for me. Soothing is a word I would use to describe how I feel when looking at the art of Second Life. Let me try to explain why. Picture if you would, a picture or painting you like to look at hanging on a wall and then imagine that picture moving as if it were alive. The beautiful moving art is indeed a pleasure to behold. I tresure this place and enjoy the time I get to relax there. It simply helps me to.....

I entered a bucket list challenge and I was so happy to do so.  I wrote and performed the intro to my video reponse and thought I would share it with you.
I had thrown my bucket list away and made peace with maybe somethings were just not going to happen for me.
The challenge gave me hope. It's okay to dream. It helps me.....

It has been a wonderful week at the beach. I feel so relaxed and happy.
What a wonderful teaser for what I hope will be a relaxing summer.
Sitting in a comfy chair with my mac and a tervis cup filled with a sugary treat is what I call a good time.
I noticed that I create better when I am relaxed and happy.
The nights are still kind of cool so staying warm in a lush blanket is a great thing to do.
It is a blessing to be here with my family. They help me to....

Brook Green Garden

I had the most glorious day today. Our friends took my daughter and myself to Brook Green Gardens. It's an absolutely lovely sculpture garden. There are other things to enjoy as well but mostly I enjoy the sculptures.
In learning the history of the old rice plantations in the area, there are several events designed to teach the visitors. Ron Price from the television series, Gullah Gullah Island hosted such a session.
After the very informative session, I asked Mr. Price if he would sing the theme song with me. He was so gracious and did just that. I only wish I knew the song better.
This sorta follows how I learn parts of television theme songs and what I don't know I create my own words. Does anyone else do that?
It was a great day filled with memorable moments that help me....

I went on a tour this past weekend. It was incredible.
The houses on the tour were rice plantations. The history of the houses was thought provoking. I was so engaged that I did further research on many of the plantations.
When the rice plantations were "no more" they became huge hunting lodges for the most part. The owners were wealthy people from the north who whould journey to the plantation to hunt whatever was on their land during certain times of the year.
Many of the current plantation owners today have tried to preserve the homes. I was surprised that many still live in the homes full time. I shouldn't be surprised though. The views from theses home are lovely and that is an understatement. The front of the homes face the river which is has really grown over with....stuff. The houses were sometimes a combination of the days of old and today.
The gardens are so beautiful. I am sure the upkept on them is a daily job. Walking around and taking pictures make the day one of my favorites.
Getting in and out of the car was exhausting but somehow once in the home or walking in the gardens, I felt refreshed.
I am very afraid of nature that moves, especially the kind that moves quicker than I do. For the most part I tried to forget that fear and enjoy the best mother nature has to give.
At the end of the day there was a tea held at a church that was over hundered years old.
Fabulous day! It was a day that helped me.....

Enjoying the Special Moments in Second Life

It's such a joy to sit in the online game of Second Life and enjoy a sunset or sunrise. When I get home from what is usually a long day, I love to unwind by writing down my days journey and watching the water in Second Life.
It's wonderful, right? In real life and and second life beautiful is beautiful. These things help me to....

Enjoy Life!

P.S. I hope to see the real life version of this today. Life is..... full of "wonderfulness"!

Going to the Beach

I can't wait for this weekend!
It's time to go open the beach cottage. I may be rushing things but it's time to get ready for the spring and summer.
I miss being at the beach so much and I can't wait to get there and relax.
The beach is the one place I feel most vibrant.

Stoney End

This is probably one of my most favorite songs. I love the versions sung by Barbara Streisand and if the truth be told, I have no idea what it is about.
I do have several ideas but my ideas don't seem to have a central theme. The song then becomes, random. It's a random song that I love and have loved since I was very young.
I recently saw a video where Barbara didn't seem to know what the song was about either. I don't feel so bad now.
Lines like, "My poor mother worked the mines". Really? That is a stoney end.
"Cradle me. Mama, cradle me again." Ummm, that is a nice, comforting thought but with her in the mines and all, probably not likely.
Then there is the title, "Stoney End". Not to be confused with the "pointy end". Ummm, again I come up with maybe rocks on a road. Maybe someone is lost and really wants to start the journey again?
Wait a tick, drugs! That's it! They are on drugs and want to turn their life around. No wait. The cradle me part leads me to believe they want to start all over again. Oh, wait, not so impossible. They can be reborn on the other end. The not so stoney end.
Okay, I'm done. I feel like I am on the stoney end writing this.
It's a great song. It helps me to....

Never say goodbye

I am one of those people who struggles with what to get for the special people in your life.
Yesterday was Valentine's Day. It happens to be one of my favorites as special days go.
Not only because of the chocolates but because I get to show my husband how much I love him.
As many years as we have been together, we are truly in love and enjoy each other.
Getting him a special present is still an issue I must admit. This year I decided to give him yet another song. He really enjoyed it.
The song is the theme song for a movie entitled, "The Promise". We decided we would watch the movie as well. It is a great romantic story so I enjoyed it.
What was very interesting was that as I was recording this song for my husband, he came home and you can hear him at the end of the song say, "I'm home".  He's such a wonderful husband. He is the reason I .......

My Uncle Earl

I am very proud of my family. We are a very musical family and passionate about it.
My uncle was a gifted soul and from an early age he found his gift and was very keen on using it.
Still in his teens he sang with professional groups, The Crystals,  and The Cadillacs. with his mothers permission.
He sang the song entitled, "I Feel So Bad". This song was later purchased by Elvis Presley and he recorded it.
He wrote many songs. Before he died, he and the group was able to record a Subaru commercial. Maybe you have seen it. You must tell me if you have.
My Uncle Earl was a great man in my eyes and I will always be proud of him and his great talent.

Enjoy Life!

Loving the Choices you Give

I had the best time yesterday. I just had to hop on my blog and talk about it.
We don't have a Trader Joe's in my area. Very unfortunate, I know, but it is what it is. I won't even go there with how I feel about the people who make those decisions.

The first time I was able to go to Trader Joe's was in Washington D.C. I had a fabulous time but I had to stop and say, "How does one have a fabulous time in a grocery store?" Well, I must say it is possible. The people, the lovely choices, choices, choices made for a great experience doing what many people dread to do. I love changing things up, it's a personality flaw, I'm sure. Trader Joe's had so many items that I have not tried before. I look forward to trying everything.

On some level, I'm sure it reminds me of my youth. As a young person I was fortunate to grow up with so many different cultures. All sorts of cultural foods were there, around me for the trying. Where I am now... well, I don't want to sound negative because I do love (this cultural vacuum) where I live but there are not the choices one deserves. People here grew up happy with the same choices they will die happy with. It's unfortunate commentary but what is really sad is they have know idea how sad it is. I suppose ignorance is BLISS.

Anyway, life was good yesterday. While I can always hop in my car and drive miles and miles to  a place where people embrace choices, the reality is, it's not always possible.

Trader Joe's is a wonderful store, I really am glad you are out there. While I doubt the powers that be will ever allow you to exist in my area, I have faith some of the people in this area will take the opportunity to venture out and see the lovely items you offer.
I have always thought the close-minded, with the power and money are more dangerous than anyone.

Oh how I love choices. They help me......

The Air That I Breathe

This is a wonderful song by one of my favorite musicians. This woman can sing this song. My husband and I have a song that we call, "our song", and she sings it. the title is called, "Morning comes to soon". This song, while it's not our official song, is still a wonderful song that the two of us can identify with. We danced to this song tonight and there simply are no words to explain how I feel. My husband and the air that I breathe really is all I need. They help me.... Enjoy Life!!

The Key To Me

Here is a song I wrote for a commercial. I am still tinkering with it but I am having a great time.
The online game of second life really inspires me. My avatar Viv Writer has been the object of my stories and I can't tell you how fun that is.
I love to create! It doesn't matter if I working with paper, fabric, or stories, I simply must create.
Go create something today. I know you will....

My Cup of Tea

I just had to jump on my blog and share what a wonderful husband I have. I was sitting at my desk writing as I do every evening. I turned around when my husband called my name and there he stood with tea and my favorite tea cup.
To anyone who understands, you know what that simple gesture means.
Please take time to do something special for someone you love. It means so much.
He is my better half and he helps me....
