It's Cowl Good

I have really enjoyed my Christmas holiday break. I found comfort and relaxation with family and friends. Hours were spent sharing quality time with my husband, reading books and ..... knitting. A good friend of mine taught me to knit during my lunch period. I have been trying to accomplish it ever since. During such time I have designed all sorts of things to include my own scarfs, cowls, snoods, and capelets.
Now, I know there are loads of cowls out there. There are enough patterns out there to knit until the Cowls Come Home. I love creating them in the round and with the seam.
When I created my cowl with a seam I realized I needed a button. So I created my flower buttons. It's made out of felt. I love them because you can mix and match them, and move them from one place to the other.
Instead of sewing a seam for a cowl I can just add a button. It is so cool to me. Creating just makes me feel great and helps me ....

Enjoy Life!
This is the back of my button. Cool eh?
Go to my Etsy shop to order my scarfs and buttons. They are soooo cool.

Christmas at Our House

Merry Christmas Everyone!
It was indeed a very merry day. I do hope everyone had a grand time with their family and friends. I love this time of year and I too wish the wonderful feelings could go on and on.

Christmas at Our House is a song I just love to hear. It brings to mind all good memories. My memories are very different from those mentioned in the song but they are just as sweet and memorable.
I love how songs, if done correctly, can evoke such wonderful feelings. It is something that helps me....

Merry Christmas

It's been a while since my last blog. I have been doing alot of some things and very little of other things.
Here the weather is getting cold and winter is on it's way. Part of me enjoys the change of seasons but there is the part of me that really dreads the long winter months that seem to drag on and on.
What makes it all tolerable is the holiday season.
With loved ones gone and new memories to be made, I find joy with friends and family.
To all who are trying to get through the season, believe me I understand. Holidays are difficult but I urge you to find something positive and hold on to it.
You will get on with the wonderful bits of life if you just seek what the holiday season is really about.
I will continue to post more holiday greetings.
In my second life, I am sooo very happy my favorite designer, Julia Hathor, has recreated her winter sim. She is absolutely the best artist I know and her work in the online game of Second Life proves my point completely.
I so enjoy visiting her sim and most of the time, I just stare in awe.

Enjoy Life,
Viv

It's Me

It's me ya'll!
I had a fabulous day. I went junkin' with my friend Ms. Peggy. She knows all the really cool places to go. I got a laptop for fifty cents!
I saw the candyman and even though he didn't have any candy today, he had great cookies and brownies.
It's hot and most of the sane people are trying to stay cool.
Speaking of which, you stay cool and ....

Still Real

I was working on The Adventures of Viv Writer today. I love writing these adventures. They really seem to write themselves at times.
In this episode Viv is still trying to move on with her life with Arden. Unfortunately, memories of Chase still haunt her.
While she knows she is blessed to have Arden in her life she still remembers her life with Chase. The good times she had with Chase still make her happy to think about.
Where does that part of you go when you decide to move on with your life. Do you just turn it off? Do you not think about it anymore? That is not what Viv wants to do. She wants to remember Chase. Because her decision is to keep Chase alive in her head, she lives in conflict with the past and future.
Lucky for Viv, she has Arden, who loves her and can live with whatever she is going through. He is a kind gentle man who just wants Viv to be happy but even he has his limits.

Those Soft Moments

Last night while strolling along I stumbled across a sweet couple. They were a mature couple and it did my heart well to see them so close in thought and deed.
I tried not to be a disturbance but I fear that is what I was. They politely asked if I would take a seat and join them for a conversation.
How very kind of them but I didn't want to interupt such a lovely scene.
I wanted to hold that lovely, sweet moment in my mind so I could pull it out on days when I needed it most.
I wanted to paint that picture, but alas how do you do that?
My mind went to a song I wrote some time ago. I hope you like it but more than that, I hope you get it.
Enjoy the sights and sounds life sends your way. Paint those lovely pictures in your mind. They will help you....

Life is good

Life is wonderful especially when you add water. I love hanging out by the water in the online game of Second Life. There doesn't seem to be a short supply of it there.
It's a wonderful virtual world with unpolluted blue waters and sea creatures playing blissfully.
I never tire of sitting on the banks and letting the atmosphere wash over me.
It's just something simple that helps me to....

Crafty

It is hot!
Yes, I had to cut off my hair. It was a bit too wooly for me and my certain age.
I am much cooler with it this way. My daughter says I look like a man. That was not good to hear but with a bit of luck maybe my lovely locks will grow back.
Today, I'm going to the flea market, thirft stores and antique stores.
It's early morning here and I am full of hope that I will find some wonderful treasures. Wish me luck and my wish for you is that you....

Down By The Lake

Yes, I'm back at the lake!
What a wonderful feeling to be around those I have not seen in a while and to renew old friendships. It's been great catching up with friends.
I have a new grill. It has been great cooking and creating with my new grill. I will continue my series of Cooking with Cast Iron in the videos to come.
Last night I went to see a great comedy. It was done in a little theatre that made me smile. There were about 50 seats in the whole theatre. A great theatre space created by people who really love theatre and want to see good theatre produced.
It was just something that made me....

SL where Imagination is Free to Everyone

I have not posted my thoughts about the online game of Second Life in a while. I am still active there and love being apart of that world. I am still writing short stories. Here is a little something from "The Life Worth Living".

The bedroom is warm in temperature as it is in the luxurious comforts afforded to those who reap the benefits of years of success.

The stripped and floral canopy bed with goose-feathered comforters and the huge pillows only compliment gold satin sheets.

Gary is allergic to goose feathers and consented to take medicine to please his wife. He is also allergic to the liquid potpourri but he really enjoys the scent and finds it very relaxing.

There is a three-step ladder in the middle of either side of the bed. The bed is high for several reasons. One reason is Maxie, their Teacup Yorkie. She was a gift from a fan from Raeford, North Carolina.

As much as the couple wanted to decline the gift, Maxie was too cute to deny.

It was not until Gary and Adel got home did they realize that the dog was not compatible to their home.

Maxie falls into everything. She has been accidentally stepped on; kicked, pushed, and flushed too many times times to count.

Once Adel was holding Maxie while in bed and fell asleep. Gary got in the bed without knowing Maxie was there too. Had it not been for Adel’s keen hearing, poor Maxie's whimpers would have gone unnoticed.

The steps on either side of the bed are far too large for Maxie to climb. The bed is so high up that she has a small puppy bed under their bed.

I enjoy creating and I must give much of the credit to the online game of Second Life because that place inspires me. I feel welcomed to create. Maybe you would like to take a trip and see what it's all about. Who knows? Maybe you too will....

Alfie

I love these songs. They were with me as a young person and made me feel wonderful. They do the same magic for me now.

This is my all time favorite music. I remember when my husband and I were driving to New York, we listened to Steve and Eydie the entire trip. We thought we were the new Steve and Eydie. It was a great time.
I have had the dream of seeing them in concert since I was a teenager. Mind you, I have only been to one concert in the whole of my life.
I did have the opportunity to see them when I was in Las Vegas in the 90's but NO it Did Not happen. I still can't believe I didn't see them. It's true that some opportunities only come once in a life time. That was the one time and I MISSED it.
In anycase I love their music and wish I had a video recording of their show. I know it was great.

Coin Envelope Mini Album with tags

I had such fun creating this coin envelope mini album. I used several dies to create this mini and my bind-it-all. The most difficult part was cutting into my graphic 45 paper. I love all of the graphic 45 paper and this series is one of my absolute favorites. I had been saving this paper stack for a long while. I had been waiting for a special project to use it and I think this was the right project. It will be a gift for someone special and I hope it will be well received.

I am not finished with the project yet. I still have the most exciting things to do next and that would be, the tags. I so enjoy creating tags. I have the opportunity to put into practice all the techniques I learned on You Tube University. I really enjoy watching YouTube videos and while the crafters there have no idea how they have inspired my creating, I thank them for their talent.

I have several ideas for the journaling tags. The large tags could be used for photo mats and journaling. I simply, LOVE TAGS!
In my next blog entry I will show some pics of the tags.

My First Tag Swap

Well, I finally jumped in the pool of tag swaps. I have enjoyed making tags for a while now but never challenged myself to get into a swap. Now, I have done it. A major accomplishment. I have already done one and now I have to finish four more. Let me know what you think. The theme is Spring and we have to use ribbon and lace and flowers. I had a lot of fun designing it. I hope the people who get it will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
It is truly something that helps me....

The Lettermen

I had the most amazing night listening to The Lettermen. The sound was more than amazing.
I drifted back, way back in time and just loved it. These men are incredible.
If you ever get the chance to see and hear them, I know you should run to their concert. You will really ....

No Plans

What a wonderful day it was. To begin with, I got to sleep in. That is always a plus for me as I am a late riser. It's Friday, and, well, that's all I need to make a day great anyway.
I did a little scrapbooking shopping and just browsed through all the wonderful creative toys and tools available.
Dinner was delicious and simple thanks to my dear husband.
I continued my evening of bliss in the online game of Second Life where I enjoyed writing and watching my view of the beach from my office window.
My little shop got an update recently and one of the changes was a big window which looks out over the beach. I simply love it. I moved my desk closer to the window and I'm all set.
It is a virtual world and while many don't understand it nor will they ever try to understand it, I have difficulty explaining why such virtual, visual beauty, makes me smile. It does just that and I am happy to have such an inspiration.
I'm off to enjoy my weekend. I don't have any plans and I believe that is the best plan for a great weekend. I hope you go enjoy your weekend and ....
